Children at St Stephen’s
St Stephen’s runs a Sunday school called Footsteps. This operates alongside the main Sunday service at 10am on most Sundays during term time. Children from between the ages of 3 and 12 are welcome at this.
There is also a ‘self-help’ crèche that operates at the same time and parents with small children are welcome to take their children there. A video link will keep you in touch with events in the church.
Our Footsteps co-ordinator is called Christine Murrell and she runs a team of dedicated volunteers that makes up the group that teaches and helps with Footsteps.
All our teachers and all other church staff are appointed in line with Diocesan child protection guidelines.
Children are also involved in the liturgy as servers and some sing in the St Stephen’s Choristers.
There are also several annual events that are specifically aimed at children in our church and in our community. These include our annual Fun Day in June and the Christingle service in December.
St Stephen’s has a close link with all the schools in the parish, they come to church at festival times and our clergy go into all the schools to take regular assemblies. The schools in the parish include Dulwich College, DUCKS, Dulwich College Prep School, Langbourne School and Kingsdale School.
