The Out and About Club aims to help counter isolation and loneliness by providing participants with a stimulating variety of outings and opportunities for companionship and social interaction, while enjoying good food and fresh air! Our members tell us time and time again how grateful they are that the club was set up and how much they look forward to the next trip or event. You can also read about the history of the club.

Unlike many clubs there is no membership fee and members are free to choose which outings they join according to personal preferences. The Club is open to all and we have managed to remain as inclusive as possible: for example, welcoming mixed age participation, those from different ethnic backgrounds and ensuring that coaches and venues with wheelchair access are hired, as appropriate. Many of our members live on their own and have enjoyed being able to make new friends in the course of the outings. They have found the programme of events affordable, because these have been generously subsidised.

Out and About Club member Bearing in mind the prohibitive costs of coach hire these days we must pay tribute to and thank our funders: Without the generous financial support of The Wakefield and Tetley Trust (which sponsored specifically the inaugural lunch at “Manuel’s”), The Peter Minet Trust and Southwark Council, the club would not be possible.

We have been extremely fortunate too, to have had the enthusiastic backing and encouragement of the vicar and his team throughout over the years. The support we received enabled the Management Committee to ensure a flying start for the club, offering quality events and outings, while keeping the cost down to £10.00 – £20.00 per head.

Out and About Club future events

Temple and Olivia have arranged our Out and About Club anniversary lunch party at the new Nigerian restaurant in our parish: The House of MOBO. This is a bold new cultural venue in Dulwich (the old Paxton pub), inspired by the legacy of the MOBO organisation.
