JOIN THE CHOIR AT ST STEPHEN’S!

WHEN?
Our adults’ and children’s choirs play an important role during school term time at the 10 am Sunday service, with a warm-up rehearsal at 9 am. There are also opportunities to sing at Easter, Christmas and other occasions. We are flexible with attendance and fully understand that family and other considerations may sometimes take priority.
WHY?
You receive a free musical education that will help you to improve your sight reading, grow in confidence, and give you the chance to make wonderful friends who also love singing – all in an inspiring neo-gothic church in the woods on College Road.
REPERTOIRE
The repertoire is extensive and diverse, consisting of hymns, psalms, canticles, responses, carols, as well as some of the finest anthems and motets from the sixteenth century to the present day.
TRY US OUT FIRST!
We put on regular Come and Sing! events to kickstart each term – the perfect time to meet us, ask lots of questions, and get to know some of the most amazing music ever written for choirs.
CHILDREN
The choristers are guided by our experienced chorister tutor Caroline Lenton-Ward. We have a weekly chorister practice on Tuesdays from 6 pm to 7 pm. If you are enthusiastic about making music in a seriously fun way, this is all you need. We will teach you the rest! And, to thank you for your efforts, we offer £1.50 pocket money per appearance.
ADULTS
If you are searching for an enjoyable and rewarding way to sing a wide array of cathedral-style repertoire and lead the congregation in enthusiastic song, look no further! We are very flexible with attendance and happy to welcome everyone.
The adult choir meets on one or two evenings a term to give us a chance to familiarise ourselves with upcoming repertoire.
