Children are very welcome at all our services and events at St Stephen’s.
Footsteps
St Stephen’s runs a Sunday school called Footsteps . This operates alongside the main Sunday service at 10am on Sundays during term time. Children from between the ages of 3 and 12 are invited to be part of this.
There is also a ‘self-help’ crèche that operates at the same time and parents with small children are welcome to take their children there. A video link will keep you in touch with events in the church.
Footsteps is run by a team of dedicated volunteers that makes up the group that teaches and helps with Footsteps. All our teachers and all other church staff are appointed in line with Diocesan child protection guidelines.
Children are also involved in the liturgy as servers and some sing in the St Stephen’s Choristers.
There are also several annual events that are particularly suitable for children in our church and in our community. These include all-age worship services on important days like the Harvest Festival and Mothering Sunday, as well as our Crib Service on Christmas Eve and the animal blessing service.

St Stephen’s has a close link with all the schools in and around the parish. They come to church at festival times and our clergy go into all the schools to take regular assemblies. These schools include Dulwich College, DUCKS, Dulwich Prep School, Dulwich Wood Federation, Dulwich Montessori Nursery School, and Kingsdale School.
